RETAIL TREND | Ecofriendly Magnetic Panel Alternatives

While doing store walks in Soho NYC over the weekend, I noticed Magnetic Panels were everywhere.

From outdoor easels to wrapping fixtures, even being used as add on promotions. With most fixtures being receptive to magnetic panels it’s become an easy and stunning way to transition graphics. Unfortunately with Magnetic Panels there is a higher price tag and they are not ecofriendly. Currently there is no quick way to backend recycle these graphics post use.

Alternatively, our team has concepted a few ways to work around the use of Magnetic Panels. Let’s use the current Marc Jacobs Display at Bloomingdale's as an example.

• The backdrop for the bags is a full Magnetic Panel that wraps around the existing L Shaped Backer. This could be substituted for an ecofriendly full printable rigid board. It would ship flat and be fully recyclable post use.

• The Fixtures could also be substituted for Corrugate Risers. Our risers have a max weight of 150 lbs., fully printable, ship flat with easy instructions for assembly and have end of life instructions for blue bin recycling.

• The smaller tray could be created with a paper-based alternative.

This campaign would likely have costs saving benefits from using ecofriendly alternatives.

Here as a resource to create these high impact moments! We have some amazing substrates to make these moments more eco-friendly than traditional products.

Sustainable Fashion Needs Sustainable Marketing

WindowsWear just released their most searched word for in March was Sustainability!

The first step towards greener marketing is partnering with a certified Sustainable Green Printer.

Best Practices for Green Marketing:

  • Partner with a Certified Sustainable Green Print Partnership Supplier.

  • This ensures you are working with a supplier who has done all the work to ensure the best practices on the environment.

  • Push for substrates that have a full recyclable life cycle.

My Journey to Sustainable Green Production

I’ve been working in New York City for 15 years specializing in Fashion Marketing, Design, Photo-Retouching, Web and Print Production.

When I became a Creative Production Manager for a large retail brand I became more aware of all the waste and materials put out there for quick monthly marketing, how quickly those materials replaced due to damages and discarded for new promotions. I looked for ways to change our systems, investing in evergreen materials, using both sides of banners to flip out promotions but it wasn’t enough.

With the amount of marketing going out each month it’s not enough to ensure the most thorough use of each substrate you need to partner with printers and production houses that use best practices for the environment. Sustainable Green Partnership is the leading non-profit accreditation organization that promotes sustainability in printing practices and manufacturing operations. They hold printers and production houses accountable for their impact on the environment. Using a printer that has gone through the process of certification ensures the smallest carbon footprint on the environment is taken. By simply switching to a SGP printer your company will be reducing landfill waste, using sustainable sourced materials, saving energy and reducing waste.
